Where is Red Barn Daycare & Dog Boarding located?

We are located 4.5 mi from downtown Hopland in southern Mendocino County. This is a centrally located area. It is 20 minutes north to Ukiah and 20 minutes south to Cloverdale, Sonoma County and the Alexander Valley Wine Region - a fabulous area for wine tasting and food tasting.
Concierge service is available with prior arrangements. Pickup in Hopland only. Please call 707-467-7205 to talk to Kathie about this possibility. There is an extra charge for this.

What is Red Barn’s concierge service?

We offer this great service for tourists who bring Fido and realize that they cannot leave the dog in the car. Give us a call and we will come and meet you to pick up your dog. We always have fun but remember you must have a way to get your animals records to us. So if you're traveling please make sure you have your dog’s records either on a PDF file or a paper file. Please look at our policies to see what vaccinations are required. Boarding is not always available by drop in, but if you call ahead there are chances that we can accommodate.
There is a $5.00 fee for concierge service.

Concierge services between 7:30 a.m. and 8 in the morning in Hopland, California.
Concierge evenings 5:30 & 6pm

What days are Red Barn Daycare & Dog Boarding open?

Daycare is Thursdays through Sundays at this time. Boarding is available 7 days a week.

Question 4

What is required for boarding and/or daycare?

Accepted Answer

It is important to know that your pet is usually required to pass a socialization interview, be spayed or neutered, and be current on vaccinations. Most facilities also require animals be at least 4 months old and be in good health and flea and tick free. Proof of vaccines must be submitted before your pet's arrival. Your veterinarian can email the info, or you may send us copies. Proof of ownership is required.

What are the policies for pick up and drop off?

For pick-up and drop-off, please phone 707 467-7205 when you arrive, and Kathie or her representative will meet you to receive your pet or return your pet to you. The reason for this policy is that it is much less disruptive to the animals that are already at the location.

Daycare drop offs are 8:30 to 9:00 for morning or afternoon drop offs for half day 12:30 to 1:00.

Boarding and daycare pickups must be between 4:00 and 6:00

No Monday pickups after 12:00 noon. No exceptions.

Boarding pickups are between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Pickups between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. will be charged the $35 daycare fee. 24-hour notice needed for additional boarding days. Availability not guaranteed and will be charged at a higher rate. Emergency situations do have exceptions - please call if you have an emergency.

Question 6

What is the daily routine at Red Barn Boarding?

During the day the dogs will have free play time all day long with the other dogs. When it is not too hot, pack walks will be available. They will have 2 nap times, and will be fed at 2 specific times.

If there are special needs dogs, I have a separate area where they can play on their own. There is a pool in both areas and a splash pad for them to play in, weather permitting.

The facility will have training, agility and scent classes available soon. Private lessons can be set up with the outside trainers.

What are the requirements and information for visits?

1. Bring proof of ownership and current vaccination record, including kennel cough, rabies, DHLP. Also new requirements for a negative fecal test for giardia & hookworm, prior to boarding long term.
2. Include instructions for medication and feeding, and label food and medications with your dog’s name.
3. Dogs must arrive with a standard (webbed nylon or leather) daily collar. Link types of collars and “gentle leader” collars are for training/walking purposes only.
4. Dogs must have on-going treatment using Bravecto, Frontline or other for fleas and ticks. Do not bring dog bedding, or dog toys! Toys can cause aggression with other dogs. If your dog does have a favorite toy we can separate them out during play time but they will not have it unless they are crated at night.
5. Dogs must be spayed or neutered.
6. If your dog excessively barks, we may find it necessary to put a bark collar on your pet.
7. Some dogs, like children at day care centers, are very sensitive. If your dog is very sensitive to new environments, you may find he/she has an upset stomach for a day or two.
8. Dogs being boarded need to be crate trained. At this time there are no Kennels so this is our only option.
☆Please note that overnights and naps are the only time they will be crated unless there is an emergency.

What are Red Barn Boarding & Daycare's Rates?

Accepted Answer

All dogs have to be met prior and assessed for daycare. Boarding can be done virtually and all forms can be downloaded online.

Payment is due daily for daycare, and at pickup for the end of boarding. Maximum length of stay for boarding is 14 days.
Discounts can be applied to multiple dogs and for weekly daycare rates.
Holidays have their own rates.
All dogs must be up on all their vaccinations. Including Bordetella DHPP, rabies, lepto. We only accept Dogs that have been spayed or neutered.

Daycare pickups for concierge service is between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and 5 and 6:00 p.m. dropped off back in Hopland. Concierge service for boarding with prior arrangements made.
